Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
Other that the shaking, is there anything else?
Like, do you hear clicking sound while turning?
If so, check the axle.
If not then do this:
wheel balance then alignment. do the wheel balance first, much cheaper. if it doesnt go away then maybe the alignment.

Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
Yep, I had the same problem. Swapped fronts with rear tires, shaking gone. Actually, in a near-fatal explosion of amateur n00b prowess, my shaking wheel returned worse than ever for a while, until I tightened up my front d/s lug nuts which were just barely holding the wheel on. Disaster narrowly averted. NOTE TO SELF: Always double check lug nuts, FFS.
Actually, the problem isn't technically solved; I should still go have the tires balanced. But, for now, the shaking is reduced by sending the problem tire to the rear.

Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
Wheel balance, extremely warped rotors, or axles. Or you didn't torque in your wheels evenly. 85ft-lbs is OEM spec. I go 90ft-lbs for aftermarket wheels but it's just my paranoia.

Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
WHEN I WAS attending the AutoMech program last year, i worked on a srt-4 neon and when i would pull out after 20mph or so, it would shake violently, long story short, i diagnosed it to be the passenger axle was gone...Now no one could find out why,"it looks fine" everyone said and i told them to grab the shaft right before the inner boot(by the trans) and the axle had literally split in-half..Hope that helps...

Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
i had this problem about a year ago it was my tires there were spereating from the tread i was on the freeway doing about 70 with the flow of traffic and like the last few weeks the wheel was shaking then all of a sudden it started shaking really bad then stoped for like a second then i see tread slap up the fender well and out in front of my civic about 30 ft or so pulled over and changed my tire to the spare had to replace all 4 tires they were all the same had them done at a walmart i dont think that they balenced them because there werent any weights on the rims (all 4 steelies)

Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
tires need balancing. but check the axles for splits....check your axle nuts that there tight....and check your lug nuts too but i doubt that last thing. someone might post it though if i didnt

Re: sterring wheel shaking??????
happened to me 2-3 weeks ago. i assumed it was balancing, i had a shop re balance my tires. it still happened. i got new trailing arm bushing [mine were wore through] and a driver side rear wheel bearing. one of those fixed it, although i dont think a ta bushing wouldl cause as much shaking as i had. i thought i had a flat tire.
