Default stereo installation

i just installed a new head unit into my 93 civic ex. It worked for a minute or so and then turned off. I checked the connections and the fuse box,but both seem to be ok. What might be the problem?

Wrong forum. Might be your ground, bare wires touching, f'd up receiver. Or maybe the connections (power & ground) are not good or held in right.

Did you check the backup fuse in the engine bay?

yea check that backup fuse over by the battery, i think it's like a 7 amp fuse. if one of your wires grounded out, it would blow that fuse.

Or the fuse in the rear of the headunit but if your saying thats the one you checked than scratch that. Also might have screwed up your ignition power and 12 source Ive seen a few few people do it but that was because they didn't use an aftermarket wire harness attached to the vehicle harness.

Did you use a aftermarket harness? Use a digtial multi meter to check voltage on the continuous 12 volt wire and 12 volt switch ignition. Also check the ground on the radio harness too. If all test well you have a malfunctioning headunit. If one or the other one is not working you need to find the fuse on that circuit that blew. Pull each fuse out and shine a light thru it make sure its blown. ATC fuses can look good if you check them in there location. If the fuses are all fine you need to find the short in the wire harness that broke and open up the circuit. Or you can tag new wires from the ignition harness and run new lines to your radio. If you can not get the harness out the car. Tape up the factory wire if you do so.
