Steering wheel Help

Default Steering wheel Help

so yesterday i was trying to leave my parking when i wne to go turn my steering i heard a sound and now the wheel spins as if there is no tomorrow. i took off the steering wheel and found that there is a little gap between the hub and the bottom. is there anyway that the threads on the column or hub can be stripped. ill post pictures and videos if needed

Does the car still turn? I think pics would help, and a better description of what happened. The wheel just sits on a shaft with grooves cut out on it. If the wheel just spins and the car does not turn, then all the grooves in the shaft or the wheel are stripped. Not sure how that could ever happen, unless you kept trying to turn the wheel very hard at full lock.
