Steering rack swap
Anyone done a steering rack swap with the motor still in the engine bay?
I'm going from power steering to Manual steering rack using a cx rack with new tie rod ends. Doing it with the b series motor still in. Anyone done it? Anyone got some pointers for me?
Thanks in advance.

i dont think it would be hard..theres plenty of room in that area(at leas in my car)...u might have to get below the car for some bolts..but looks like its duable..gl

Re: Steering rack swap (2camsaam)
yep! its pretty easy. i did it my 93 si. i converted my power rack to a manual rack.
heres some quick steps.
1. secure car on jackstands.
2. unbolt the joints and take off the tierods from the steering knuckles.
3. then go under the dash and pull the plastic thing off the steering column... youll see a u joint..undue the 10mm bolt.
4. unbolt the header and cat
5. go underneath the car and undue the 4 bolts (14mm?) if its a power rack, make sure you undue the lines that go to the rack.
6. slide the rack over to one side and pull it down and kinda wiggle it out.
there you go! hope that helps.

Re: Steering rack swap (DXturbo)
make sure you have all tge tools before you start and make sure you have friends to help you cuz the rack gets kinda heavy to hold when your bolting it on, or taking the old one off. also a pickle fork will help seperate the stuck tie rods
