Default Steering Rack Issues

Okay, first off I have a PS rack in my EG with an H22 swap. This means, no PS pump and a looped PS line. I get into my car about an hour ago, start it, trun the wheel and hear a crunch/snap sound. The next thing I know, I'm pulling out and straightening my car out, but the steering wheel is turned to the right. In other words, I think it broke a couple teeth in the rack, and now when I drive straight, the spokes are pointed N & S, instead of E & W.

Here's the question. Would it be smart for me to get a non PS rack. I really don't want on because of the smaller ratios meaning more turning from lock to lock, but if I get another PS rack, will it eventually take a ****? This rack has lasted since 1994, and has been running without a PS pump since June of 2004. So its been 2+ years w/o the pump. I know the only pro of the non PS rack is its about 50 lbs lighter, otherwise I still want the PS rack, just for more feel of the road, and control. Any comments or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Rob

Get the non-PS rack and I belive you can get a different turning ratio if you install the qualife replacement parts into your rack.

I'd personally get the non-ps one, I had PS and when I did my swap I took it out and installed a non-ps rack and personally I cannot feel the steering difference. You will just get used to it

Well, today it all went to ****. Now when I try turning to the right, the steering wheel just turns and makes a grinding noise while the wheels don't turn. I'm thinking its the knuckle that attaches to the rack. Since I can turn left, but right slips. Gear must be grinded down.
