Default steel braided fuel line upgrade quick question help??

I've been reading up on upgrading my fuel lines on my b16.. The car made 366hp and will probably make around 450 on race gas is a 6an the size i need??

Also my big question is this i've looked at the how to section on doing this with the parts list..

It says you have to cut and flare the hardline is this necessary??

Could'nt you just put the steel braided line right over the hardline like stock and just use a regular clamp instead of doing all of that or 1 of the fake an fittings with a clamp in it?? The hardline is hardely visible behind the IM

Also the kits like fast-turbo.com do you still gotta do all of the cutting and flaring??

Really just don't wanna mess up something and i wanna redo these line soon..

i just have the factory setup right now its a 92 vx or cx hatch..

i have a mugen fuel rail and weapon r universal fpr with guage off of the fuel rail..

I'm probably gonna buy a inline pro fuel rail here soon and a different fpr don't like it bolted to the firewall..

i have the parts list off of the how to but i'm gonna put steel braided lines on the WG,Profec B all my vacuum lines..

I was thinking about just buying one of those pepboy type steel braided sleeve kits that slide over the hose and have the clamps insdide the fake andonized fittings and use that for the vacuum lines.. Just wanna make the engine bay nicer..

For the fuel lines i'd rather use real line and fittings but kinda don't wanna mess with the hardline.. That why i was asking can i just clamp the steel braided line on the hardpipe then use the fitting up on the fuel filter..

I'm also not opposed to doing the earls fuel filter but was trying to avoid complication and the chance of me with my luck messing something up..

well if you want a line that goes from your stock fuel filter to the fuel rail thats easy... just find a shop that makes custom fuel lines... you can bring your fuel line in to match the fittings.. if you are changing the fuel rail you can have what ever fitting you need put on the fuel rail side (normal an6).. the fuel filter side wil be a bando nut.. they will match it up for you.. get it?

what they are taking about reflaring is on the other side (input from fuel pump) of the fuel filter.. you are working replacing the soft side so you don;t have to touch the hard line

Ok now you've confused me please help..

i know on the fuel filter thier are 2 lines coming out.. The 1 line runs to the end of the fuel rail thats gravy..

The other line runs behind the IM into the hardpipe that hardpipe is the problem area that needs cut or am i wrong??

I was thinking why could'nt i just put the andonized fitting on the other outlet on the fuel filter running to the hardpipe.. Then at the other end at the hardpipe just slide the steel braided line over it and clamp it will this not work??

Maybe i'm off but then i would'nt need to flare or cut anything if i have all the steel braided lines made to lenght..

Are you saying that the outlet on the fuel filter running to the hardpipe is what needs cut, flaring... not at that hardpipe but at the fuel filter side??

i'm confusing myself and my cars not here to look at right now..

Is'nt thier a fuel line that slides over that hardpipe or is thier a actual fitting hooked to that line going into the hardpipe??..

I just wanna get my engine bay looking nicer and upgrade my fuel lines at the same time.. Both of the lines coming off of that fuel filter can be steel braided right??

would this be easier with the earls inline filter for 30 bucks??

if your going for looks... do something like this.. replacing the stock filter..
yuo need to have the line flared with a different fitting

on my friends car we took the whole fuel line out and had a an10 fitting welded on it.. we are going to have a an10 line going into the fuel filter (same one this guy has but with an10 fittings) then a an10 line from the filter to the fuel rail

i'd rather avoid getting the inline filter..

i just don't have my car here right now which sucks because i can't look at it..

I hope i may have enough of a visual so the steel braided line running straight to fuel rail end gravy i understand that..

The other 1 i'm guessing now has the fittings made into the end of the line at the fuel filter and at the hardpipe is this correct??

So i can get the an fittings at the fuel filter then hook on the braided line.. Then at the hardpipe i gotta cut or flare at a 37 degree angle to hook up the fitting to the pipe??

or am i just way off base??

thanks for taking the time to help a dummy..

the thing is the fitting on the bottom of the honda fuel filter is a honda fitting.. you can't get a aftermarket fitting or adapter for it.. its unique

i guess your could cut the tip of he hardline off.. slide a steelbraided line over the hard line.. put the nut back on and reflare the tip (its a double flare).. then get a hose finisher (they look like fittings but are clamps) and put the clamp right under the nut on the hard line

I need to look at my car i know on my boys car i was looking at recently he has 2 lines coming off the top of his fuel filter its a LS turbo in a eg maybe its a different filter.. 1 of those is steel braided to the rail and the other is'nt..

i'm guessing i only have 1 line on top of the fuel filter and it goes to the fuel rail??

either way i'm gonna ride over to my boys garage and look at my car i'm gonna try to order everything tommorow but may just order the fast-turbo setup from Stan

ok i went and looked at my car i think somebody may have been messing with mine before i bought it..

i got the 1 line running to the fuel rail..

the other line comes off the fuel filter is a hard pipe it turns down then turns into a hose that is clamped to the hardpipe, the hose lasts about 6-8inches then is clamped back on the hardpipe with normal hose clamps, is this normal??

i only took a camera phone pic don't no how to put that on the computer..

if your looking at my fuel filter straight on, the outlet closest to the passenger side comes off has a hardline turns straight down and has a rubber hose clamped to it, that hose last 6-8" longs then clamps back into the hardpipe and it runs down behind the IM

Is that hose suppose to be thier it looks like it suppose to be hardline but somebody put the hose in between with clamps but i dunno

The one closest to the drivers side turns down has a hard pipe but immediately runs into a honda fitting that is made on the hose this line runs to my fuel rail..

where are they talking about flaring??

yeah thats cool i thought the flare was behind the IM i'm not doing all that..

Is that hose suppose to be on the hardpipe like that can you look at yours??

could'nt I just cut out more of the pipe till its out of the view then just put the braided line on that 1 for looks just use the fake andonized ends?? It really looks kinda cheesy the way it is now...

and use the fast-turbo kit for the rest..

Why would you plan to do this? Do you have a sumped tank, are you running an external fuel pump.. I dont get it. Your stock fuel lines will flow more then enough fuel for 450whp, also 6an isnt an upgrade over stock anyways.

This should be posted in forced induction.

hey man i was lookin over you post and i remember seeing a how to, this might answer most of your questions, this'll give you the bling factor and keep the functionality without having to do any kind of flaring. hope this helps.
