Stcok D16, Charge it or Swap it???
When the time comes i was gonna turbo my 1.6 but then i thought for the money why don't i do a swap. What would be the best engine swap for my car? And like the best money/speed ratio. And if anyone knows a good place to go let me know.

come on now hes just askin a question, no use in being mean, i asked the same question on another board, but id go ahead and do a swap, i heard turboing a D series is great and everything but it lacks midrange. plus you would be much more happy with a swap. trust me.

if the motor is in good shape boost it
if not swap in a b18 or bigger
my d16z6 blew up before i could boost it
so i swaped in a b16a
it sucks
so now im boosting that
i think a turbo d16 would be cheap and fun
do a search for turbo d16 or something like that
look for dyno numbers
see if they are appealing
good luck

Charge it... I turbocharged my Z6 for around $1700(used greddy kit). I considered a swap for a while, but decided against it. Right now I'm running 8psi and will be upping it to 10 within a week SOHC VTEC=

lol, I've never heard that one before, good terminology.
It's your choice, there is plenty of arguments for either option. Just do some research and base your decision on that. If you need more info on turbocharging a d16, there are a couple sites in my sig. you could check out, or keep searching archives on here. Just be aware, when you do a swap, most likely you spend whatever it costs for the engine/tranny, labor (if it applies), and a little for any extras that might come up and you are good to go. With a turbo setup, things can add up quickly. You likely won't be done with buying a kit (like GReddy), you still probably want to have a boost gauge, an intercooler, an EGT gauge, a blow off valve, maybe an A/F gauge, possibly some fuel system upgrades, oh and then you could get a larger diameter exhaust to improve spool up, may need a new heavier duty clutch, maybe a lightened flywheel, while you're at it you can upgrade to Hondata or something similar, then you can.....
See what I mean

how is that being mean? i would reccomend the turbo too. rebuild it first if it has alot of miles on it b/c mine blew up too (threw a rod). ive heard of a lot of d16s throwing rods and its a bitch to have to fix.

whoa. um.... hmm thats quite a few. I have the same and i would think you'd have to rebuild it so you don't have a mishappenining like the one stated above. **** i was thinking of a turboing also, but now that I think about it...

If you want NA set up, i would go with b18c.
if not i would turbo charge d16. and if you get more money i would work on internal.
