Stayin' SOHC
Ok, after deciding from B18B1, B16A2, B18C1, JDM or USDM.....I found a B18C (JDM GSR full swap) for $3100. Pretty good huh? Didn't buy it.
Decided to stay with my single cam VTEC. Oh ya, I forgot to mention I'm boosting it. All for fun too. I didn't need all the power in the world. Just the swoosh when shifting. Newer motor swap, new turbo, new gauges, install = $3500.
Just thought I'd share how happy I am.

Re: Stayin' SOHC (B18CX-EH)
congrats man. I've been going through the same thing these last months. I've been back and forth on what route to go and which motor setup to work with. I've gone from wanting every b series motor to a sohcvtec turbo to a h22. Im so torn and confused. Im glad to hear that you've picked a route. sohc turbo is a pretty sweet setup. What turbo/parts are you getting for $3500? How much boost do you plan to run?

Re: Stayin' SOHC (B18CX-EH)
It's all in what you want. There are two turbo'ed SOHC 5th gens around here, one of em thats really into racing (Weight reduction, Greddy kit, etc) runs solid high 13's. He can hang with and/or beat most stock domestics out here, hes a pretty great guy.
I thought about keeping my d16 and turboing it, but I just don't have the money to maintain something like that. Knowing the way I drive I'd prolly kill something within the first year or two of getting it.
Right now I'm still shifting between B18C and B16.... its a touch decision, who knows, I might stay with the D16.
Congrats on your choice though.

Re: Stayin' SOHC (fOmaNPu)
D16Z6 swap w/ 30k
GReddy Turbo Kit (lowest PSI setting)
GReddy Exhaust Temp Gauge
AC Autotecnics Boost Pressure Gauge, Water Temp Gauge, & Oil Pressure Gauge
APEXi Turbo Timer
Still deciding on a boost controller and VTEC controller. Or even if I'm gonna use them.
Starting to save again for a boost build to hold 15 PSI at max for the 1/4 mile. Like a said, I don't need all teh power in the world. 15 is plenty for me.

Re: Stayin' SOHC (B18CX-EH)
I think we should join forces. I have had two other civics in my life and both of them I did a B16 swap with 50 shot of nitrous. One got stolen the other I sold. I bought my current coupe with plans to not do anything at all. Of course I could not resist. I will be keeping my D16Z6 this time and might just throw on a greddy turbo kit. I don't want to be the fastest honda. I just want to run at least mid 14's on street tires. Let me know how like your new powerplant.

I'm staying SOHC (boosted) too! Im in the process of selling my B20z longblock and GSR tranny. Then I am having my D16Z6 rebuilt then adding the greddy kit with intercooler, fluidyne, hondata, RC injectors, etc.

"Aren't you worried about your rods? The 1.5's are much smaller than the 1.6...right? It's gonna be a few weeks till my motor shows up and I was gonna boost my DX for the time being. I was told not to, cause of the rods."
my inspiration was homemadeturbo.com...and i use hondata and it works wonders...im only running 4 psi but ive gotten up to 5 for 1/4 strip.
