Starting up after head gasket replacement
Hi all,
So I got my head out, it checked out at the machine shop and I've now installed the new HG and put the head back in. I'm wondering about ensuring the top end is adequately lubricated when I go to start it up for the first time. The shop took the camshaft and rockers out to resurface the head so I put dabs of moly grease of the camshaft before reinstalling. Wondering if there's any specific spots I should dab with engine oil before putting the valve cover back on. Or, the Haynes manual suggests after a full rebuild to crank the engine with the plugs out and distributor disconnected for a few seconds - is that a way to do it?
Sorry if this has been asked before, I googled and read the FAQ but couldn't find exactly what I was wondering. I'm going to pains to make sure I don't mess anything up while re-assembling.
