starting trouble when low gas
My 94 EX cp 1.6 Vtec 5spd has a problem starting when the gas gets low.
Not sure whats going on with it.
I have new wires, new plugs, new cap and rotor. Plugs look good. Cylinder compression check is good.
A few days I tried starting the car< prolly 2 gallons of gas in it< cranked well but no beans. I tried about 8 times< battery showed no signs of weakness and prolly on the 4th turn I check the plug and wire connections = all good.
Today I took out the back seats > Turned the key acc on > I could hear the pump work. I did the same thing again but i put my hand on the feed line hose and I felt the gas running through it. Took a volt meter to the wire and got around 13.5 volts which is good. This is all with about 3.5 4 gallons in the tank<I added some.
I turned the key about 8 times to the accessory on whitout cranking the key all the way over. I said what the hell and cranked the biatch over. IT STARTED!
WHAT in the world is the deal here?
All vaccum hoses and gas lines look good.
car has like 200,000 miles on it but the head has been rebuilt and the compression checks out at 160 +/- 5psi.
The car does sound weird and has a lack of power when I take it around 5700rpm pluss. It might be a timming issue<I need to check that soon,
Thanks for the help everyone.

if you have that then you should know that its not going to be easy to start with low fuel

Re: starting trouble when low gas (6spdKEG)
all cars take a little longer to start when low on gas... like do you try to crank it for minuts and it finally starts or does it just not start as easy as it does with a full tank? if it dosent start as quick as it does with a full tank (have to hold the key forward for a few more seconds) its completly normal.

no no no.
I don't have problems with my K swapped EG > runs great > love the speed > love the domestic *** whoopin
I have problems with my stock EX EG
only when I have like 1-4 gallons of gas in the tank, it wont start on the first try a lot of the time. When it has more than 1/4 tank then it starts on the first try real easy.
Its a realy weird situation and I'm flabbergasted at what I need to look into next.
I think my next step is timming. I will check that within the next week.
