Re: starting car wiring (92hybrid+)
you need to go between the starter relay, and wire that up to the 2 pins on the defroster switch. you need a wiring diagram for that. but i dont know how it will work with a momentary switch like the def. switch.
anyone else want to chime in, id like to see how this works.

The ignition wire runs straight to the ignition switch right now... cut the wire, route it to the defrost, route a wire back to where you cut the ignition wire and you're set.
The only problem with this is if someone who knows a thing or two about electronics was to hotwire your car, they would realize what you did and simple cut the wires and connect them and start the car no problem.
You might want to run a relay from the defroster switch to the starter wires. That should be less obvious and will do the same thing. Actually, I like this method better but it's a bit more involved. Again, it's still tracable so make sure you hide those connections out of view so if you look under hood and around the starter wires it'd be tough to figure out where the connection is. This way, they wouldn't know that it goes to the defroster switch unless they follow cables through the firewall which would take too long. Or if they just cut the hack and connect the starter wires straight up.
Anyway, it's worth it for slowing down thieves.
