Default starter question

i've never had a starter go out...was thinking maybe mine was starting to go. do they normally just **** out, or do they just start taking longer than normal to start the car? it seems like the past week or so it's been taking a couple more cranks than normal for the car to turn over. runs fine once it's started, so thats why im assuming it may be the starter. (no it doesnt grind at all when i start the car)

Default Re: starter question (S8P-tuner)

ussually you can tell if it's going out by:

1) tAKES longer to start
2) have to turn key multiple times to start
3) engine Vibrates violently after starting up
4) battery life is shortend
5) worn spark plugs
6) engine gasps for power right exactly after start-up
7) while starting, cranking goes off at different speeds
8) increased engine temp. due to sucking more power in order to crank and start.
9) gas mileage shortend slightly due to running slightly more rich to start engine

symptoms #1,2,3,7&8 happend to my old '92 due to a bad starter. R.I.P '92 Hb
