starter problem

Default starter problem

97 civic wont start. replaced starter it self and still no crank. it was making the click noise like it was a bad starter but after replacing it it still likes making that noise. i dont know anything about import cars. i do have general knowladge of cars. any ideas?

are you sure the clicking is coming from your starter?

its a definate mayby. it sounds like it is. is the relay around the same location? what else could it be. the engine will jump start. this is my neighbors car. he bought the car for 2 much when we got back from the middle east. damn privates wasting money. i told him id help him get it running again tho

Dead battery maybe, corroded contacts and terminal posts? Corroded contacts on grounds.

we had the battery tested at auto zone. they said it was good. ill do the connections with a wire brush and see if that helps. thanx alot for the quick help

bad ground...happened to mine. just check ur tranny ground

a can of coke works well too, its amazing how corrosive soft drinks are.

the fact that it starts when jumped makes me think battery despite what the minimum wage autozone employees told you. If it was a bad ground, it still wouldn't start when jumped. Your battery has some power, just not enough to turn the starter.
