any of the wires rubbing on metal could have caused the insulation to fray and short to ground, I bet when you did the engine swap the wires were probibly just hanging around and not properly secured

Actually they were properply secured, they might have been rubbing though. I wish I left the wires on so I can check to see if they were. Do you think I need to buy a new starter?

take it out of the car and test it, get some jumper cables clip the negative one to the body of the starter and touch the positive one to the nut the heavy gauge wire connects

Yea I will hopefully I can do it today, real busy with other stuff. Thanks for the help, but do you think it could have damaged anything else? None of my fuses popped either, so I'm guessing everything else might be fine.
