Stalls and makes horrible noise while idling.
Ok i own a 94 Honda Civic and when you are moving it runs great but if you idle it has a chance to stall and while u idle and a very unique squeak squeak slap slap sound can be heard. So far i replaced the fuel filter and have got new belts for it. Also if you turn AC on it makes the car stall very fast. Like i said though as you accelerate all of these problems go away till i hit a red light and the check engine light is also on. Any ideas what is wrong?

I'm pretty new at this site so my knowledge about cars is pretty limited in some respects. i also own a '94 civic that i am currently planning to start a LONG project on since its got 200+ K loaded on it. BUT, I can sorta help you out. My civic doesn't stall, but it DOES make a HORRIBLE noise when idling, kinda like a grinding but not exactly. I haven't fixed it cuz i need to save up but i suggest you first check to see if its the alternator. I really believe it could be the alternator, not the belts.

first you wanna check what the light is for. the ecu will tell you whats not right with the car. honda made it for a reason.

no... just stick a metal clip or wire in to close the connection and follow the steps...

you see the two openings on the end of the clip? just connect them both together with some wire or a paper clip.

Re: Stalls and makes horrible noise while idling. (turbociviccoupe)
Alright i opened the right kick panle yesterday and there wa no small plastic thing w/ 2 wires going what i did find was a panle that i had to unscrew over another panle that i had to use a socket to get out and what looked like a larger flatter hard drive was there w/ 3 IDE connections. I am thinking this is the computer for the car and not what i was looking for. Why wouldn't it be there and where else might it be?
