stainless steel header questions
okay so i just recently bought a stainless steel header from ebay and yes i know i get what i pay for but heard some ppl have no problem with it.
question 1: So is there anything i need to prep before bolting it on? my friend told me to use rubbing alcohol on the header before putting it on so i thought that was strange.
question 2: how do i get that golden color header look. do overtime it just turn gold?
thanks in advance

Re: stainless steel header questions
just make sure the header flanger is clean, and the mounting surface on the head is clean, use new gasket/s.
the golden look comes from high heat, when the header gets hot enough to glow red.

Re: stainless steel header questions
I think the Ebay headers are hit and miss... I got a 4-2-1 for my B20 in my wifes integra and it fit beautifully and looks awesome! I think I paid $60 for it shipped.
he told you you clean it with alcohol so that when it heat tarnishes it will be uniform, your hand prints will leave dark areas in the stainless, yes it will get that golden/blueish color with a few hard drives, the heat is what colors the stainless.

Re: stainless steel header questions
I bought a stainless steel Megan header off ebay awhile back. It bolted right up to my d series. I didn't do any pre install prep just bolted it up the day i got it. The golden color came after a couple of days of driving it. Saddly I had to get a DC header as Megan isn't carb legal. Got the Megan for 130 shipped i believed. Well enjoy that golden color.
