Stage ___ clutch
Hi guys, I'm new to these forums and to cars in fact. I had a quick question for you guys though. I keep seeing people talking about their stage 1/2/3 clutch etc. and i was wondering what the difference between the different "stages" are. i understand the difference between different numbers of pucks, but not stages. Sorry for the noob question, but then again i'm still learning. Thanks for the info!

Re: Stage ___ clutch (Ceakoth)
I think it's more or less a way for a company to try & sell a product.
When you're looking for a clutch look into the specs for the clutch. Find out what it's holding power is (how much torque it's rated for), what material it's made out of, whether it's a disc/puck setup, sprung or unsprung.
The last few parts will have to do with the driveability of the car.
Right now I have an Unorthodox Racing unsprung Kevlar clutch in the car. It's designed to drive like a stock clutch, but it's supposed to have an 80% higher torque hold rating & it's supposed to last up to 3 times longer. Overall it's alright for a low-mid powered street car, but I wouldn't recommend it for a race car or a higher-horsepower car.
