stage 3 engine rebulid problem
I have a 1999 civic si with a B16A2 motor. I recently did a stage 3 rebuid on it with jun cams lift 513 i believe, high compression pistions. titanium valves, the head milled down and re serviced, new skunk 2 cam gears. I beleive my cpmression ratio is 12 to 1. I finished the car on 12/3/06. I started the car and took it for a test drive. Everything was good until I try to get into v tec. Then the problem began, my timing belt jumped 6 teeth. Luckily my valves didnt hit the piston. So I thought it was the cam gears thinking maybe I needed a special timing belt with the skunk 2 cam gears but re set my timing with my stock cam gears and tried getting into v tec again and this time it jumped a tooth. My friend said it might be that the camshafts are to big and the exhaust camshaft is locking up whenever I get into v tec. Any comments to what you guys think can be any other possible problems?? Please let me know asap.

Re: stage 3 engine rebulid problem (ELiKA .SH)
valve lash set properly? timing belt properly tightened with tensioner? dont use that timing belt anymore if i were you. jumping teeth wears em down good. weakens them. camshaft too big is foolish i mean the cam is made for the engine so. take the holders of the cams make sure they are not too tight and grinding into the cam. couple things to check anyways.

Yea if the tensioner wasnt changed before that should be first thing on your list to do if it jumps that much. Means that its not holding well.

Re: (Luserkid)
I put my stock cams back in and everything is good. v tec hits strong and everything is good so far. just needs a good break in to the motor. I figured that my stock rockers were too long and I needed performance shorter ones. I think im going to go with a stage 1 camshafts.thanx for the advice
