Default stabilizer bushing help! Really annoying.

I swapped in my urethane bushing almost a year ago. Has been great and I have nothing bad to say about it. I replaced my throwout bearing this weekend, and ended up dropping the shifter along with this bushing to avoid playing with the bitch pin. I mount the tranny, put everything back on fine. When it comes time to put this bushing back on, I notice that I can't get it to be perfectly flush. There is a little gap in between the bracket and the urethane. (not between the urethane and the car though).

The shifter is super sloppy. I have a lot of vertical play in my shifter. It also goes with the torque of the motor, which is really annoying. Is there any sort of washer or something I could be missing? I took it off again to only have the car be the same exact way.

Grr.

Could something near the motor be loose? When I shift (or when someone else does) the linkage moves through the bushing itself.

Only reason why im wondering if this is the problem is because I did it.
My friend put on the rest of the shift linkage.

I should have taken a different picture. I have the bracket on
EDIT with new picture.

The bar/link that goes through the bushing has up and down play, not side to side.
