SRS light and knock sensor problems code 23
I have a '95 EX coupe D16Z6 SOHC
Ok I need some help/advice. I got a ticket and have to see a ref to sign it off. Well I went and they won't even look at it withe SRS light on. I tried the wire thing to the yellow plug but nothing. I thing the airbag has been deployed but not sure. Is there a way to check both airbags to see if they were deployed? If they have been how can I reset/fix the SRS light without just taking out the bulb. I'll do it for a last resort but I'm not sure if they will check for it.
Now onto the knock sensor. I tried to smog my car recently and it won't pass. I looks like it is running rich but don't know what's causing it. I did the code check with the wire and it threw me a code 23 (knock sensor). I thought I read somewhere that the D16Z6 don't have them. Where is it locate and where can I get one? I already ordered a Denso O2 sensor but would like to replace the knock sensor too. I also replaced the sparkplugs and they seem to have a lot of build up on them. Could a bad O2 sensor and bad knock sensor cause this?
I had to get an extension on my ticket and would like to fix these thing ASAP so any good advice would help. I tried a search but nothing came up.
TIA,
Eric

the Z6 doesn't have a knock sensor.try reading the code again.
a bad O2 sensor can certainly cause a car to run rich.
if the airbags were deployed, you'd know it-they rip out of the center of the steering wheel and passenger side cover.there is a diagnostics procedure for the SRS,but i don't have it here with me.you can find it in a shop manual.

Re: SRS light and knock sensor problems code 23 (hatchi)
Thanks guys. I saw the SRS light reset thread but it didn't work for me. Maybe I did it wrong and will try to do it again. There are no rips in either the steering wheel or the pass side air bag so it must still be good to go. i also looked under the drivers seat and it seemed to be plugged in. I could of sworn I saw the code flash two long flashes and then three short flashes, maybe it was a code 13??? Once I get the new O2 sensor in I'll let you know how it goes.

what ECU is in the car?if it's a DOHC VTEC ECU by any chance,it will throw a knock code since there isn't one hooked up.
also,a DOHC VTEC ECU will run rich in the Z6.

there is a label on there that will tell you what it is.there's a list on this forum to allow you to cross reference your part number to what car it's from.
