Does your horn work? If your horn button also stopped working, then your cable reel probably broke. A similiar thing happened to my car. No accidents or anything. Just one day the light started flickering when I was pulling out of my driveway and then it stayed on. I only recently noticed that my horn stopped working but it probably died around the same time.
If you car has cruise control, be sure to get one that supports cruise control. The spools are slightly different between the cruise control and the non-cruise control cars. If you don't have cruise control just grab any one but you'll have to slightly modify it for the horn to work. It's just a jumper but it took me a while to figure it out.
