SRI used to whistle...now only annoying hum
I've had a aem SRI for about 7 months and not until recently a clear, loud humming started (I've searched) I'm gonna try to spray intake cleaner in a few places to see if it bogs, check sensors, idle control, check the gaskets on the intake manifold and tb in a few days, when school isn't crazy. i've tried the oem intake and it's not as loud but still audible
The previous threads had no final resolve, so i was just curious if anybody had any suggestions or if they've found the problem cause it's getting damn annoying.

are you positive it's coming from the engine bay? maybe check for an exhaust leak. hope that helps...

my CAI whistles when i press the gas sometimes, and at idle it "hums".
i don't really think it's a big deal, it's not really loud on mine or anything. i just put it in a few months ago, so it's fairly new.

Re: (NegativeXero)
i would just ignore it, but i thought it odd when it only does it when it's warm'd up and it fluctuates with the amount of throttle i apply. i.e. at idle it hums like a v8 but blip the throttle slightly and it goes away but right after the blip it's back. it's freakin loud as hell i got a damn tuba under the hood.

that would be my guess...a dirty filter.

Re: (Malakai)
i took the filter off and it still makes the humming noise.
it's not touching the hood b/c it makes the humming noise when the hood is open.
I believe it's closer to the tb b/c when i took the pipe off and started it, the noise wasn't there anymore... so who knows, i might be giving up in a few days.
just curious to see what everybody thought would cause such a prominent sound vibration thru the intake pipe..
