Default Squeeling noise d16y8

Hi Guys,

My car has been making a squeeling noise in the morning when the motor is still cold. It goes away once the engine is warm/hot. I opened the hood and I can hear it right around the alternator. I'm pretty sure it's a loose belt, anyone know how to tighten it? Thanks in advance.

yup your right. its a loose belt. there should be a tightning screw by the belt(belt tensioner).

i just spray some wd-40 on it and it stops. lol

Y8 alternator belts don't have tightning screws... to tighten, loosen both top and bottom alt. bolts, then use a small prybar or a large screwdriver and pry (i suggest between the top bolt "ear" and the block) the alt. into the right possition. hold it steady and tighten the top alt. bolt. don't forget to tighten the bottom one again.

make sure all of you belts are tight, and while you're at it make sure they aren't worn out. once you've insured they are tight, if the squealing perssists it could be coming from a bearing. near the alternator: obviously alternator bearing, the water pump is just behind that round lump in the timing cover and so is the T-belt tensioner.

you could also consider looking at the A/C belt and tensioner, those are prone to squealing on that model. check to be sure the 14mm bolt on the tensioner is tight.
