Squeaking sound near manual transmission

Car is 1998 Civic EX D16Y8 motor and manual transmission.

Intermittent squeaking noise coming from near or in transmission. It sounds just like a squeaking belt, but definitely coming from rear of engine. All belts (including timing) were changed 6 months ago. The sounds is most noticeable on initial cold start up idling and last about 3 minutes, Even after the car is warm and running around for a while it will intermittently squeal. The sound does not increase with RPM's and is only audible at idle. Listened to the tranny and engine with tubing but couldn't find it. One possibility may be cat converter springs or rubber exhaust mounts. Hoping it is not inside transmission.

Call me stupid or something. But can you describe like, the pitch of the squeal?

I have a d16y8 myself and she has some sort of weird whistle/squeak sound when idling. I asked my dad who is a mechanic of 30+ years and he said that's common for my engine. My brother used to own a '96 EX and had the d16y8. His did the same.

If it's really loud and annoying, then it's not what I normally hear. I feel ya on the belts. All mine were changed not long ago and I still hear it. But like I said, could be the fact that it's that type in the line of d engines.

So maybe I hallucinate things with my engine. But if it's the same thing I have going on under my hood, it's no reason to fret.

I think the sound at idle you are describing which is mild, normal and has been present since I bought the car 8 months ago. The squeaking sound it's making now is louder and started about a three weeks ago. As I stated it's usually at idle and is not constant.Last week I did add ATP AT-205 resealer to fix a nagging leak (it worked) however, it was making the noise before that.

could be a input shaft bearing, throw out bearing, etc. Mine doesnt do it.

Might be. I googled input shaft bearing symptoms and this thread popped up https://honda-tech.com/forums/honda-civic-del-sol-1992-2000-1/input-shaft-bearing-going-out-how-long-can-i-wait-2782245/. I'll let it ride (so to speak) until it gets noisier or otherwise. Doesn't make a grinding sound when clutch is depressed. Also found this post doing civic pilot bearing http://www.8thcivic.com/forums/mecha...ch-pushed.html I will try lubing the bearing by removing the clutch slave as suggested.
