Sputtering problem...98 ex with a 94 B18c
First off I've searched all over and I'm finding a mix of possibilities. I have a 98 Ej8(of course) with a 94 B18C...hence the name. Anyway, my car will drive fine it seems until it warms up. Then it starts to bog down and want to die. I have to keep revving it up to keep it alive, around 3500 or higher. If I come to a stop it will die and it has. Starting it back up is a lil rough and I have to give it gas to fire up. It runs fine after a cold start. I didn't start it at all this weekend until after I changed out the fuel filter, distributor cap, and rotor button. I changed the plugs and wires maybe 3 months ago. I'm leaning towards a sensor or a vacuum leak. But wouldn't a vacuum leak have an affect on startup? What sensors do I need to check? Or is there something else? No CEL coming up either. My knock sensor is bad I do know that for sure. It threw the CEL a couple months ago. I haven't had a chance to replace it. Any ideas? Thanks for the help.

I found today that one of the vacuum lines on the back of my intake manifold has a small hole in it. I noticed that if i open the hole up a little larger the idle revs higher and if i close the hole up as much as possible the revs go lower. But I could never get the car to recreate the problems I am having. I let the car warm up to normal temp and even drove it down the road to see if the problems would start again...but no. AHHHH!! So frustrating...

Did you change the hose? Usually with dying it is a vacuum leak, or could be a bad gasket in the manifold. With the engine running use brake cleaner or throttle body cleaner and spray around any of the vacuum lines, and everywhere near the intake manifold or the whole intake if you have the rubber hose for the air filter. This will change the way the cars runs when it catches the spray and that will pin point your trouble area.

Most stores like autozone, napa have universal vacuum hose. Pull it off, bring it in, and size it to what they have. Buy it there and change it the dealer might have the exact fit, but might be pricey compared to universal hose. You will have to cut it and shape it sometimes but will still work. That is probably the problem not enough vacuum, and it is let air in.
