spungee brakes aaaahhhh

Default spungee brakes aaaahhhh

Hey people, I just bought a 92 civic si with rear discs and when i go to stop it feels really spungee.... The brake fluid isn't clear it's kinna like a med. to dark brown..... I haven't had a chance to bleed the brakes yet but i'm probably gonna do it tonight when i get off of work.... but i was just wondering what you guys might think it could be... TIA

92 civic has 11 year old soft brake lines. pads? fluid could probably stand to be changed too.

rest your foot on the pedal, if it sinks, you may need to replace th master cylinder.

I'd definately flush out the fluid with some new good stuff, SS lines could be another addition, or just some new oem lines, try bleeding them again to make sure theres no air in them. Cant really say much else...

ok i've bled front disc before but never rear... do i just do the same to the rear like i did to the front?

If when you hold down the brake (when the car is on), and it sinks all the way down, ur master cylinder is broke.

I havn't gotten a chance to mess with the brakes yet but it's only when it's hot outside that the brakes feel like that... at night when it's cooler they seem fine... could that just be old brake fluid?
