spun rod bearing or main bearing?
I recently purchased a block with a spun bearing and I was wondering if there was a quick way to tell if it is a rod or main bearing, before I become a mad scientist and tear it apart? I don't know if this will help any, put when I push down on the top part of the pistons only #4 moved a couple centimeters.
Thanks

A couple of centimeters? Is that without the crank moving?

And pretty much the only way to tell. If the rod bearing is spun, you just need a new crank, piston(s), and bearings. If it's one of the main bearings the block is trash.

You will also need a new rod(s).

When I pushed on # 1, 2, and 3 nothing moved only four so I believe that the crank did not move but I am not sure so looks like spring break I am a mad scientist. I will try to do a write up on it, I will keep you posted.
