Default Spring Rate on Lowering Springs

im looking to buy a new set of lowering springs, and i am about clueless in regards to the spring rate, what do they mean? whats good for a moderatly comfortable daily driver? thanks.
example: one set of springs im looking at says 220lb spring rate front and 140 spring rate rear. the other set says 280 front and 230 rear, so what would be the differece between these two sets of springs.
