Default Spoon vs Skunk2

I was surfing the net for a head package for b18c5 and found the following
SKUNK2
PRO1 Cam Gears $299.20
DOHC VTEC - PRO1 Camshaft $730.84
VALVE SET STD COMP 1 $373.20
VALVE SPRING SET $282.63
RETAINERS 1 $195.51:
TOTAL $ 1881.00

Spoon
Camshafts 88,200
Head Gasket 12,600
Valve Set 46,200
Valve Springs 46,200
Total 193,200 Yen Which is $1,601.28
http://www.spoon.jp/product/pdfs/p8_p23.pdf

I do not have head gasket in the Skunk package, and no cam gear and retainer in Spoon package. Where is the deal? You subtract 20% from skunk, still 200 dollar difference? What am I missing? Shipping from Japan? Taxes? I was so close on buying the skunk package but after seeing this I am confused.

Anyone?

Dude those Skunk2 prices are suggested retail. You can definitly find them for a lot cheaper than that.

Goddammit...I have to do the searching for you don't I?

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1702482 Pro 1s $549 shipped

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...QrdZ1 Pro Series gears $189 obo shipped

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors...ZWD9V Ti retainers/ dual valvesprings $350 shipped

https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1470930 Couldn't find Skunk2 valves so try out Supertechs probably around $230 shipped

Possible total: $1318. You just saved $500 by switching to Geico

OK... Here is how I think

with 20% from skunk It would cost $1505 and I am getting it straigt from them, and I am not risking anything.
So in theory ebay and other stores are $187 cheaper.

And for $1600 you can have spoon package? Am I missing something?

Well I'm sure you can find vendors on here like Kteller and **** that have comparable prices.

As for the spoon stuff. Somethings gotta be wrong with those prices. I bet its alot more than that. Plus I've never really seen anyone using spoon cams so I don't know if they give great results. I know Pro 1s have made excellent power. I have them as well. Plus just because its Spoon doesn't mean its soooo much better. Look at their header for instance. That thing is crap for its price.

Also you forgot to include the price of the cam gears in the "Spoon package", so maybe thats where the glitch is?

No glitch, I putted a Spoon Head gsket instead of it. The cam gears are 243 from spoon vs 240 from skunk store ( included the 20% discount )

I think some of those Spoon prices are off.

Conversion says the cams alone are around $732.13 USD according to that pdf file

But on inlinefour, they charge $1045. Maybe because of tarriffs or something

Well in that link nicram posted there is a sheet with terrible results but I think its biased or BS. Not a lot of people use Spoon cams. Either they do suck, or its just not worth buying. There are cheaper and better products out there that are of great quality still (Rocket, Skunk2, even Toda )

yea, even if it is the great spoon or whatever, still. it's not like a camshaft makes your car look cool. fast is what counts.
