Spoon SW388 Replica question (I searched)
I've been wanting these rims for ever, but I can't afford them. so I've been looking for replicas.
I think the best ones are the Rota slipsteams. but they have a 40mm offset. I check out the Speedy Race mode, they also have a 40mm offset. and the SpooM also has a 40mm offset.
only the real spoons have a 45mm offset.
my current ASA rims DO rub with my suspension setup (koni yellows struts; stock height, with my Eibach sport springs)
I don't know what the offset is on the rims,
I was searching in the archives for offset to see what I needed, and for sure the 45mm will not rub.
is there a other company that makes fake spoons sw388 with a 45mm offset ?
ps: my current tires are 205/50/15
and I'd like to stick with those, I don't want to go down to 195

i got no idea what offsets they were. i was just saying who else makes them. might as well throw down the extra 1500 on some real spoons and get the offset you want....lol

my C8's with 205/50/15 rubbed a lil bit on my 95 civic sedan but only under really hard turns.</TD></TR></TABLE>
This diagram really needs to show where the face of the rim is. If the car was on the left side of the wheel's face, it would prove to be false.

Re: (JOEY F.)
The offset of a wheel is the distance from its hub mounting surface to the centerline of the wheel. The offset can be one of three types.
Zero Offset
The hub mounting surface is even with the centerline of the wheel.
Positive
The hub mounting surface is toward the front or wheel side of the wheel. Positive offset wheels are generally found on front wheel drive cars and newer rear drive cars.
Negative
The hub mounting surface is toward the back or brake side of the wheels centerline. "Deep dish" wheels are typically a negative offset.
If the offset of the wheel is not correct for the car, the handling can be adversely affected. When the width of the wheel changes, the offset also changes numerically. If the offset were to stay the same while you added width, the additional width would be split evenly between the inside and outside. For most cars, this won't work correctly.

Re: (Daniel san)
I think a 40mm offset won't rub too much. I am rolling on 17x7 GT-P's with a +37 offset. I am tucking in the front and close to tucking in the rears. The fronts only rub when I have to crank the wheel all the way to one side.
Are you worried about them rubbing on the fender linings during driving or when turning?

Hmm, well my 17's with a +37 and 205/40/17's is not bad. My tires will scrape on my fender linings when I go over large dips. But they never rub when I turn even at full tilt. My fender linings used to rub on my old GSR wheels all the time but over time they wore down enough that it wasn't a problem.
I think those rims with a 40mm offset will be fine, just gotta watch out for **** *** roads and try not to put yourself in the position where you have to turn all the way. I know its a big pain, but there's a price to pay.
I don't see how you have a problem and don't. My rims are bigger, stick out more and I'm close to having my coil-overs all the way down.

get the 15x7 +40. the +40 will stick out 5mm more than the slips, but 5mm is nothing really. IMO, it looks way better when the tire sits more flush with the fender. i'm running 15x6.5 +40, 205/50 ziex-512 and i am far from rubbing, lowered 2"+.

I don't have 2500$ to spend on the real thing, (cnd$, with Falkens)
and I'll need new rims in about 3 months, i'm just starting now to save up for them, and I'll probably have just enough for rotas.
I might have to go with the 16" then..
my car is alright when I'm riding it, it's just that with a 2nd person, the extra weight makes it rub on every lil bump on the road.
and if there's people in the back... it's really really bad. I already had to raise my car. I'm not that low
