900 bucks for non adjustable springs and shocks. you tell me? that system consists of 400 dollar springs and shocks, with a 500 dollar name on them.

Re: Spoon damper kit (black2kcivic)
true, i'v only ever owed ajustable and i would probably miss that feature. I just assumed paying for the spoon name ment i would be getting a high quality unit, but that much for non ajustable is a bit steep, i think i'll go with the apexi Ws coil overs.

Non-adjustable kits can be just as good as adjustable kits. Most people who buy these kits don't need that kind of adjustability. Those prices are not too bad for a quality set of springs and shocks.(thats what it would cost to put together a good set of H&Rs or Bilsteins for my GTI). The reason that eibach and ground control can sell their units for so cheap is because every little boy with an import goes and buys them because they are a little cheaper to begin with. Now because they sell a large volume of an inferior product it becomes cheaper to make them because they make them in bulk. So what have we learned the more expensive quality units never become much cheaper because of ricers. Oh and that name brand stuff has a large effect when you import stuff. if you want a track car or autoX just go with the spoon stuff, but if you want to have a smoother ride when your not racing go with adjustable.

also check out tom's car (B18C5-EH2) https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=346524 , he built his car from the ground up not cutting ANY corners, and look at his suspension system. he runs koni yellows and eibach coilovers. that should tell you something

Re: Spoon damper kit (Spoon Hybrid)
you are right, with my old hatch, i was on skunk2's with kyb agx and it handled awsome, i was very impressed for what i payed for, although i assumed that going with a full coil over system would give me a more refined ride rathere than mixing and matching a system

Re: Spoon damper kit (Spoon Hybrid)
wow, you got ripped off. and neuspeed race springs + koni reds or KYB AGX shocks will handle as good as if not BETTER than the spoon system. neuspeed race springs are 150 bucks, and lets just say the shocks are 400 (they are actually cheaper). that brings us to 550, almost half the price of the spoon.

Re: Spoon damper kit (viCeVerSa)
I'm using the spoon shock and spring set. The ride is very very stiff, but then again I'm not using the blue progressive spring set, my springs are the black ones. They are quite expensive, but I got them quite cheap slightly used, if the shocks wear out im gonna get koni yellows instead.

Re: Spoon damper kit (RyanR)
Has any 1 tried spoonsports nonadj damperkits? if no then stfu!
How can you bad mouth something you have never tried?
1st off I love mine to death but depends on what you are going to be doing.
If you are into Road Racing or Daily Driving these are for you.
They ride Great, the handling is awsome mine are great.
Just ask Dawn from HybirdGarage What they use.
I would NOT get them for Drag Racing they are not terrible but you can do better.

Re: Spoon damper kit (RyanR)
LOL, drive on koni yellows and eibachs, then go drive on a real system, not this apexi bullshit or Tein SS, I mean Tein RE, Zeal S6, truechoice stage 4 or something equivelant. Then come back and tell me he didnt cut any corners. I'm sorry but a matched suspension system will ALWAYS outperform one that is not.
100% CORRECTO!

Re: Spoon damper kit (Spoon Hybrid)
i sure have, G.
Couple of things:
—You're comparing Neuspeed Race springs and Koni reds to a matched spring/shock setup. Maybe you don't mind a suck-*** ride on the street, but you're not even going to have a decent autoX setup.
—The Spoon Sports non-adj. coilovers are $775 from R&D.
—Why don't you like full coilovers?
—The fact that B18C5-EH2 runs ERS springs and Koni yellows does not back up your suspension decision or opinion.

I was just saying, since you came off rather "know it all-y" IMHO.
If I think that you're giving out bad advice, I will say something.
The goal is promote debate with the end result of both sides gaining information, and a consensus reached about the quality of a part.

Re: Spoon damper kit (Spoon Hybrid)
sometimes i think that custom is the best way to go. you can specify your need Autox, strip, street drag, road track. At least you have a little control over what your suspension strength will be unlike getting a damper kit with what they put together. dont get me wrong those kits arent bad, but you know if its not adjustable Its definately for racing and you know what that means stiff as ****.
