Default Spoon authenticity proof...help

i got a deal on some spoon sw388's.
i wanna kno, when i look at the rim, how do i tell that they are real? and not knock offs?
what is the offset for the 96-98 civic hatches?
they are 16's.
i remember someone having pics of the spoons, like from every angle and showing the sticker etc...
so if u have pics, please post...thanks

-jason

i had a set of 15x7 on my coupe and on my hatch for a little while. trust me, if you have ever seen a set of slipstreams next to a set of spoons, you will definently know the difference. everything from color to texture.look at the lip too. and the stickers on the spoons dont say spoon, so dont be fooled, they say desmond, which i think is a russian company? or something like that, that makes evo wheels. hope that helps a little..

yep it will have the Desmond sticker and it will also say made in russia on the inside of the wheel next to the bolt wholes...spoons kinda have a ruff finish, not a painted smooth finish...

If you look at the lip of real spoons, they are flat. the lips on the slipstreams are have a few radius' in them.

Also a dead give away that they are rotas is that there is a manufacturing stamp on one of the spokes near the hub.

they are 16's.
The 16" Spooms are easy to spot, just look at the lip of the rim.

Real Spoons have a machined lip.

Are you sure these aren't rotas?? They Look JUST like my rotas except for the finish. Maybe its because those are 15's....the 16 inch spoons look pretty different.

In all seriousness...just have the seller show you the stickers and stamp on the backside of the rims. Plain and simple solution.

i think the main difference is the weight ....rota's can never be as light as the SPOON's..... make sure its 3.88 kg's for the 15" ...i'm not sure how much the 16" SPOON's weight?

Nope, not my cars...just helping a friend sell them.

But then again, what's the potential of the Ferio? That's why it's $4k.

Aside from the Desmond sticker, if it is a 16x7 it will have a flat lip. The 4x100 will have holes for the studs only.

If it is an older wheel, it will have the "made in russia" stamp on the inside lip of the wheel. If it is a newer wheel, it will have a notch out on the inside of the hub for the Desmond centercap and the "made in russia" stamp on the inside hub.

The VIA and the JWLM stamp will between the holes with 500kg stamped adjacent to it. I have 2 of each in the corner behind me.

If you still want them, don't buy them from someone who just tried to rip you off.
