Default split fire spark plugs------good or bad?

one of buddys is running a b16 in a 88-91 hatch. other than an ram intake and a set of dc sport headers, its completely stock. he told me that he changed the plugs and plug wires yesterday and instead of using NGK (of course like i suggested to him) he bought split fire spark plugs. i've always heard that running split fire plugs in a high revving motor such as a vtec motor that it could cause some pretty harsh damage to the top of the piston. my question is, is this "urban legend" true or can my buddy put his worries (and the bed we have going on) to rest?

all i know is that any platinum plug is pretty crappy due to in like less than 500 miles the platinum burnes off!
if you want a true plug, go copper!
ngk copper plugs are nice in my openion!

I'ts not going to hurt your pistons that doesn't make sense. Although they are not superior to ngk's just because the have two prongs (which is what they want you to think). The spark only travels to one prong @ a time, thus making them pointless. Long story short: buy some fuggin' ngks

split fire plugs are 100% junk, the best plug is the ngk iridium's burn 1200 degrees beyond platinum's melting point 8 times harder than platinums they have a 0.4 mm tip to get better spark requiring less voltage, better acceleration cant beat them

I ran splitfires on my 94 325i once cuz the shop didn't have NGK's, car was pinging right after until I switched back to NGK's. It sounds gay but if it don't work on a BMW, why would it work better on a Honda Motor?

my friends dad put split fire in his 93 stang. the electrodes got hot and broke off... they had to have the block honed, and a piston replaced....
