Default speedometer/odometer problems

i got 95 dx hatch with stock 5spd motor and all the regular electronics.
tonite while out cruising my speedometer jsut stopped working and sat at 0mph for a good half hour or more. shortly after the odometer stopped keeping track of the mileage. i was sitting at 97600 miles for probably a good 10-20 miles. think this could jsut be a short or something? anyone whose had this problem and fixed it please tell me what you did. tomorrow i'm planning on taking a look at all the wiring and sensors and if all else fails may call honda since i dont have to cash to get raped by them for staring at it for hours on end. thanks for any help.
later

vehicle speed sensor, or VSS.....it is located ON YOUR TRANNY, and it should have 3 wires going to it......just unplug the harness and clean it up with an electrical cleaner, and clean the INSIDE of the tranny-mounted harness with the same stuff....

once you do this, the problem should disappear....the only other thing that it could be is a bad VSS.....they arent hard to replace at all, and can be had at a junkyard for like $10-20

good luck....i had this SAME exact problem.......i just rode it like that for like 3 weeks heheh....just to save miles, then i fixed it
