Default Speedometer not working right. HELP!!!

I did a search on this and did not find a whole lot on it. Mostly people who put in a new cluster but forgot to hook something up.

I have a manual 96 LX with 128K on it. All the guages are working fine except the speedo. It comes and goes whenever. I'm can not duplicate the problem when "I" want it to. I'll be driving an it'll say 65 then I look down it'll say zero. Thank god the RPM guage is working or I would have know idea how fast I was going.

Does anyone have any ideas?

ha, SPEEN!!!

Thanks, I didn't know about the VSS. Looks like I'm going to have to replace it. Thanks for your help.

My speedometer will work, bounce around, then quit.

Are you guys serious about an alternator fuse I somehow doubt it.

i had this problem as well. when i replaced the cluster lights, and put the unit back together, it started jumping around. it's weird because my SRS light was on and i'm too lazy to reset it, so i just unplugged it and the speedo jumping quit. not sure why, but i'm glad cuz it was way annoying.
