unplug the plug from it, then pop out all the pins and clean them with something that can srach up the surfes of the conecting points, that will fix it

Yes it was working before and then it fluctuated between 40 and 80 then just quit working all together . What makes it get dirty though? I was told that it could be my ECU causing it but I dont really know ?

Yes I have a CEL but it is on for another reason BECAUSE OF THE CRANK ANGLE SENSOR . It is a 96 with a ls vtec with b16 pistons and a stock gsr head . The check engine light has been on every since the first time I got my original GSR rebuilt IT IS JUST A LONG STORY THAT I DONT LIKE TALKING ABOUT BECAUSE I HAVE SPENT SO MUCH MONEY ON THIS CAR !

I have a civic dx which I am currently trying ot get ready for safety...
The last thing I need to fix is the speedometer, I only works when it wants to? Sometimes it works fine without bouncing around or anything and sometimes it simply reads 0. Any ideas on what I should look at first?
Thanks

theres a small gear in the transmission that makes the speedo sensor spin and work.. sometimes that gear can be worn or missing teeth causing the speedo to not work at all or work randomly or bounce the needle around randomly.. if the pin cleaning doesnt work that would be the next spot to look

thanks, tried both... thought it was working for a few km but cut out again. I guess I'm gonna try checking the harness leads with a ohm meter?

My friend had a similar issue and for him it ended up to be a loose speed sensor under the intake manifold.
