Default Speedometer Moves But Car Doesn't NEED HELP!!

ok so here's the deal.. a friend of mine did a clutch replacement and after he put everything back together. the car drove for about a block then poped out of gear (2nd or 3rd). now at first he thought it was the transmission. so i went there and replaced it, but it still doesn't go anywhere. when in and out of gear the car doesn't move but the speedometer still revs up. the car doesn't even die when its in gear. so we went and tried replacing the passenger side axle. still no go. car does the same exact thing.

Car: 1996 Civic CX

someone help me out here so i can figure out wtf is going on to fix it and get paid for doing the work.

What about the drivers side axel? Both axels have to be good for the car to move, Unless you have a lsd differental. See the diff is spinning which is where the speedo is attached to but without both axels all the torque will goto the side of least resistance.

Sounds like a diff problem. What was the tranny from? Was it a running and driving car?

definately a diff problem. It also could be that the Axel is not all the way in.

yeah... well we took care of the tranny and axle and still no go. i think the problem might be that the guy who did the clutch swap did a bad job bolting up the tranny right and the tranny got shifted a little and fucked up the splines on the clutch assembly. i ono i'm probably gonna pull that **** apart again. good thing i'm getting paid everytime i pull it apart lol.

oh and also... what happens if the flywheel isn't torqued tight enough? and what happens if the flywheel is shaved down too much? just curious cuz the guy who worked on it before me might have made those to mistake.

freaking idiots... make everything that much more difficult for me

That'll do it. When I broke my driver side axle, the speedometer would just jump like crazy and the car wouldn't go anywhere. Glad to hear it's working.
