yesterday while drivin around my speedometer just went wacko, it'll like drop to zero then just all the way to 80, and then it'll level off with the speed i'm actually doin for like 10 seconds then start jumpin around, i already checked my grounds there good, i have speed sensor pulled out of the tranny but i don't know wat to look for to see if it is bad, also could it just be the speedometer in the cluster goin bad, i really need to know cuz i'm leavin from north carolina to go all the way to tx tomorrow and i kinda wanna know how fast i'm goin, thnx in advance


also my check engine light is coming on but my ecu doesn't have the red l.e.d. so i don't know how to check wat that problem is

well when i look at the connection from the wire harness it loook a lil blackish-brown on the pigtail itself, and i don't know if that corrosion or not. ugh this sux. and yes i've drivin through and i already took a q-tip to the sensor to dry it out if there was anything in there to begin wit

no it would look like greensih with white stuff arund. kinda like the a battery post in need of a cleaning. most likely if its dirty inthere just clean it as best you can. when i had that problem i just cut off the connection and resoldered a new one

Might be the VSS. I checked mine by jacking up the passenger side of the car and checking the voltage at the VSS. rotate the tire and the VSS should have voltage. Harness must be plugged in to the VSS, if I remember right. Do a search and you should fing the info you need. Check the wires as well, might be cracked. Good luck. robert

the speed sensor is the VSS. try and find a factory service manual to do what he said in the proper manner. also you'll need a digital multimeter if you wanna go that far.

mine went coo coo also. it just hops around and when i turn it off hops to 40 then 20 then 0... then when i start it goes to 20 then stay there. people say it's the speedo. so im just getting a new one. best of luck to you

yeah...you should always check your connections first before you go out and buy parts. dont just replace it without checking that first!!!
