Your Vehicle Speed Sensor is not connected properly. Pull it off and blow in it and then reconnect it.

I bet it acts like a Tach sometimes

mine was located at the very back right of the engine bay where alot of wires are. it was a blue wire but your probably notice if it disconnected.

VSS plug is close to where you would full your transmission fluid.

Most people take the VSS off to fill the tranny

CHECK YOUR DIZZY 90% CHANCE IT'S YOUR DIZZY MAYBE ITS GOING OUT USUALLY IT'S NOT YOUR SPEED SENSOR IF IT'S NOT PLUGED PROPERLY YOUR SPEEDO WON'T EVEN WORK. BUT I'M PRETTY POSSITIVE IT'S YOUR DIZZY MAYBE THE COIL.

that's what i was thinking.. my speedo USED to just stop reading.. go to 0 and stay there.. i took apart the VSS and solved the problem. the electrical connector was dirty, where it connected to the harness. now it won't go below my set speed. ex: if i'm doing 40mph, it will bounch between 40 and 80-100mph. weird. ONLY did this after putting on the different dist. OH! and i get a CEL now, but with no code. WTF??
