Default Speedo and Tach off?

Okay here's the deal.

I have a 92 hatch with a 95 GSR motor. When I had the P72 in, I would fuel cut at 8500 (or that's what the tach says). When I got Kenji's P28 (which I HIGHLY recommend for b series), I fuel cut at 9100 (or that's what the tach reads).

So I contacted Kenji about this epidemic. I sure as hell don't want to be hitting fuel cut at 9100....so he says that his ECUs are equipped with 8600 fuel cuts.

And today, I was driving side by side with my friend on the freeway and my speedo says 85. I call my friend and she's going 77 MPH! Can the stock cluster be really off by that much!? What options do I have? I figure if I go with another stock cluster, it'll do the same thing.

Are the JDM clusters any better? I really don't want to stick a HUGE 10" tach in my car since all the ricers do it. But if I have to, I'll do it just to get an accurate reading.

P72s cut off at 8200 just like the P30s I'm pretty sure.. your gauges are definatly off. Its worth a try to put in another stock one, but if it doesnt fix it, an autometer tach isnt going to either. At least it would rule out a wiring issue between the sensors and your cluster plugs.

Hrm...so if it cuts off at 8200...and I've been seeing 8500 constantly before the ECU swap then for sure the tach is way off. 500 RPMs at 8600?! I'm seeing 9100. That's rediculous Honda!

I have a stock EG cluster and my p72 cuts fuel at 7300rpm as indicated by the gauge. I read somewhere that these clusters are known to be inaccurate, especially at higher revs. This might apply to the speedo too. Not too sure where the inaccuracy arises. It is either coming from the needle not responding properly to the supplied voltage, or the gauge voltage not being properly proportional to rpm.

what series tire are you running? tire size throws off speedo readings
