Default speedo reading off

well i just swapped odometers out since my SI cluster had a peice broken on the odometer which was making it not work. i swapped the speedo assembly from a 97 dx cluster onto it, swapped the board over from the SI cluster as well as the peice with the pin the needle goes onto. its reading about 5mph off and driving me crazy. it was right on before i swapped the parts out. got any ideas as to what it could be?

any ideas? someone told me it was because its from a dx but Dx and EX wheels and tires are the same exact size so thats the issue. it worked perfectly before i swapped it out so idk. i guess il have to deal with it if i want a working odometer

Speedo must be from a car with 13" tires. Maybe it was swapped before you got it from the DX?

My 97 delsol has always 5 out from new. I have a 2009 Hyundai its speedo is 5 off. My guess it has something to do with the smaller wheels. Look on the bright side if you think you are speeding you will always be 5 under what you think.

I know that those speedometer needles are pretty sensitive. If you take them off something doesn't always go back together right and its never the same after. Might just me the cluster. Don't worry about it too much. Could be the tire thing. Most Hondas then came stock with 13s.

dx and ex both came with the same size tire in 97. both 185 65 14 so its not a difference in tire size throwing it off.
