First where did you get the VSS from?
Next did you reset the code?
Also what year car?

When go through the step-by-step troubleshooting procedure in the Helms manual, where do you get stuck?

You have to reset your ECU when you fix anything. Where did you get the VSS from??

not true, the code will be reset after a few consecutive drive cycles if the fault isnt present again.

most likely is a bad connection at the VSS or you broke the plastic gear installing it.
