Default speedo not working, got wet.

during this last winter we had a real wet snow storm and when driving the speed sensor got wet and at first the speedometer was jumping up and down and now it just sits at 0 and the check engine light comes on. what do you suggest? i do have an extra vss laying around but i didnt know if there was a fuse i should check or what. please help! by the way my ride is a 93 civic hb.

Put the other sensor in and see what happens, I bet it fixes it

Also, check that the plug for the Vss does not have water/fluid in it. The way the VSS sits, its bottom plug can act like a bowl, and water can gather in it, should it come into contact with it. Happened to a friend once, all he had to do was take it out and drain the few or so drops that had collected in it, worked like a charm afterwards.

yeah bud, all i did was switch the sensor and worked just fine. thanks for the tip.

i did do that but the speeedo just kept jumping. i just replaced the vss and all worked fine.
