Default Speed problem, car dies after 90 mph. Question?

Anybody know why when I drive my EK to about 90mph the car dies? At first I thought my timing belt was gone, but when I stop and start it, the car works again. Maybe a loose wiring? Bad alternator? Battery? And BTW it's a B18c1 swap if that makes any difference. Let me know what ya'll think.

90 mph exactly? I assume 90 in 5th gear... try to go faster than that in 4th and and you should learn if it is related to rpm rather than speed. What ecu are you using?

Ek OBD2 to OBD1 running on chipped p28 ecu. And yes I was in 5th gear when it happened. Only happened to me once so I freaked me out. I thought it chewed the timing belt for sure or worse, a blown motor, but no the car still runs fine.

I can go almost 90 in second with my built b18c and in third no problems. It's probably your ecu man. Get that sucker tuned.

Ok, so now I turned on the car and it turns off after thirty secs. It did that like three times. I checked everything from alternator belt to timing belt and spark plug wires. Battery cables were secure. Nothing out of the ordinary. Fuel pump maybe? I'm still runnin on the stock EK fuel pump if that helps. Any answers ya'll. Thanks

Yeah, it depends.

On the thruway (I-90) up here by Rochester on a Sunday night the general speed is 85-90-93 or so. Gets scary some times when you're in a civic and all these people in big *** escalades 'n beast-like trucks are all over the places, pple on their cell phones 'n **** avg'ing high 80's low 90's.

EEK.

@ OP:
If it only happened one I wouldn't worry about it, it probably just jarred an electrical component. As it's not happening on a normal basis you can't really mess with it to see if it'll happen again.

Damn, I'm assuming you have custom ratios? What are they? I mean obviously it's not tuned for racing as a regular GSR redlines 3rd at 90mph...

What is that, super econo-GSR or something? Or did you raise the redline (what to?)

You can go 80 or so with a stock gsr tranny, the only diff is mine has a type r lsd and that doesn't affect that at all. I feel a hint of sarcasm, dually noted! =P

you should be able to hit almost 90 mph in 3rd. is the engine dying or just struggling? cause the way you put it it sounds like the engine is shutting off completly.

yeah, where was your tach at 90 in 5th?

if it were me i would get on the interstate, shifting to third and just leaving it there. run it up untill you hit redline. you should be close to 90 by then. maybe over it, not sure. i'm not a b-series trans expert... but that should clear things up.
