did a clutch install today on my civic and now the damn speedo aint workin. i hooked everything back up and still. i havent really troubleshooted yet because im too tired to mess with it. just wanna know wat yall think it could be.

did you either damage the wires on the VSS or forget to plug it in?

ok i double checked all the hook-ups and i put everything back where it was.

the check engine light came on and i dont know if its because the speedo is not workin. i reset the ecu and it came on again short after.

i found out another thing today. my VTEC does not engage. is it because of the broke speedo?

damn someone please help.

your vtec isnt going on because your spedo isnt working.
triple check allllll your VSS wiring.

aight a feel better about the VTEC not workin but i swear i was under my hood for the longest checkin eveything.

ill check agian and see wat i come up with.

Do you know what the VSS is and where it is located? Not being a smart ***, just wondering if I could help.

Maybe you bumped it and cracked it by accident during the job?? check the pins in the connector, make sure they look ok, not bent , make sure they are coming all the way thru

Yeah if its the speed sensor then you'll throw a code and vtec wont work......hopefully its not broke b/c the dealer charges a grip for that depending on which piece of the sensor is broke..

man this sh*t is makin so frustrated everything concerning the VSS is lookin normal i dont know what the hell is goin on.......the only thing i havent done was to check it with a voltage meter.

You just put a clutch on, right? You didn't open up the tranny?

do you mean did i actually open up the tranny? if that is wat you are askin then no i didnt.....i didnt think i needed to.

was i supposed to...........wait no i dont think i did. i have seen lots of clutch installs and they never opened up the tranny.

why would i have to?

damn it.....me and a friend troubleshooted the problem with my multimeter and we narrowed it down to the sensor. imma have to get a new one. yall know how much they are? thanks for the help.

If its the top electrical part.....and if i remember correctly it was $100+....somebody correct me if i'm worng

today must have been my lucky day.....i got my CTR lip a day earlier than expected so i was happy. then i went to autozone to get some black paint for my lip and i noticed that my speedo was workin agian so i was even more happy. i dont know wat happend but it works......

check the wires at the VSS connection. Corrosion is a problem.

i think thats wat it was. me and my boy were checkin it with my multimeter and i guess all the sticking we did into the connector cleaned it up and it started to work.....

im glad i dont have to buy another sensor......
