Default Speed limiter in a 04 civic?

I can only get my 04 civic up to around 110mph at 4k and it will not accelerate anymore it is like the engine is limited there. Is this a limiter that somthing such as a VAFC can get rid of

i'm pretty sure there's a limiter. my cousin had the same problem but he got up to 115mph. he had a stock 2000 civic ex. you should probably look into removing the chip.

yeah it is went 128 with a stock EG9 lol (stupid and young)
Yeah what's the point of going that fast anyways, it's not like your car can get up there quick enough to actually race it.

Yeah and the chip idea, I dought it because I don't think anybody chips those ecus and will ever try because they are useless.

if you read down below the civic is not stock and handels very well. I do not go that fast every day and only go that fast on straigt backroads that I know very well. I can drive the car as well as most and have good confidence in my ability. I really don't know why everyone is so quick to critizie everyone else if you are not going to give an answer the shut the **** up
thank you

i say, its not ur ECU, open up your engine and take off the restrictor plates . Also, there may be some w/ your ECU, so get a JDM ecu

You live in Maumee? My brother and I go to college in Wooster. Maybe we can meet up some time and I can kick your *** for being an asshat on streets that people I care about might be traveling . How about this: your Civic does not handle well at or above 110mph even with your shitty Tein Basic dampers. How do I know? Because I road race my Civic which is lighter, faster, better braking and better handling and have been in the 110mph range before on a back straight, heading into a quick kink and such.

If you must drive like a stupid ***, maybe you should get a Mugen or Spoon or JUN ECU so you can die with an expensive piece of equipment in the car recording your final folley.

Idiot.

JDM ECU wouldnt do **** , im just seeing what this guy would do to make his civic go fast, which is stupid. He oviously dosnt have all that **** he says he has in his engine b/c if he did he would know where restrictor plates are in a USDM engine, and yes they are there , along with a governer in the ECU. both work together to make ur engine kick out at like 9k rpm, my buddy took out the restrictor plates and the governor in his Jeep and it was revving at like 18k rpm, stupid IMO, but if this guy wants to make a CIVIC go that fast, he can do what ever he wants. if you want a car that goes really fast get a muscle car or spend like 2 million bucks on a McLaren F1

A.) Cars haven't had restrictor plates for a long time. Period. All "restrictors" are electric now and controlled by sensors and the ECU.

B.) 18,000rpm is more than 3 times a Jeeps normal operating redline. I call bullshit unless he has a calibrated tachometer that winds to 18,000rpm, which you can get videos of.

C.) If the last two lines of your post are any indication of your stance on Hondas, maybe you should get out of our site before someone takes the initiative to PYDTS into banland.

That's insane but I can't exactly say much because I've had my sol way over that once before. IMO just leave top end speed alone. You trust yourself but you don't know if a soccer mom in a minivan will be pulling out of a driveway or something.
