I do belive thats a racing ticket, a contest of speed. That's what they call it in the law books. Any contest of speed between two vehicles. Something along those lines.

I believe being caught while racing on the street is a serious offence in certain parts of california now..L.A has seemed to have the most serious consequences.. such as it being a $5000 fine.. plus they impoud your vechile for 30days..in which you ahve to pay for that.. but if his car didn't get impounded he's lucky and may only see a $2000 fine plus possibly 6 months to a year of a suspended license

it varies by court.. some courts are not as harsh... but thanks to the idiots who street race and kill people or crash there cars.. it allows courts to be more harsh on people who street race.. remember the kid who killed himself while racing near a elementary school @3pm or so in ontario..and then the woman who was killed in santa ana on her way home.. when a Mustang and Civic decided to race thru traffic..Well your lucky they have not yet passed the law that might put Street Racing as a felony and also carry with it the ability for a Court to never allow you to ever Drive again but this bill will most likely be shot down..but thats to much for now ... but tell your friend to get lawyer and see what they say..

couple years ago I was going 80 in a 45 construction zone and totalled my truck when another car pulled out in front of me, I got a speeding ticket, at fault accident and no seatbelt and all I had to pay was $250 total cause it was first offense, good thing I got a lawyer They're expensive as hell but they work when you need 'em. Over here in VA if they catch you drag racing they'll take your car and auction it off and you can't buy it back unless you have a friend buy it and get it from them. anyways, you loose your license at least a year maybe longer and pay a huge fine. CA is so strict, I'm glad I don't live there.

Once I was racing a firebird and I got caught. (So did the other guy, there were three cops waiting for us) A friend of mine, lawyer, told the judge that I just got on the rowdy side and said the only charge I should get was exhibition of acceleration. 140 dollars.

On a side note I got arrested once for doing 90 in a school zone. 70 over isn't too bad is it? Got 100 hours community service, 150$ ticket, 20$ court fee, and 3 teen court jury terms...a total of 170 dollars, 100 hours, and 4 court appearances...I wouldn't recommend it.

the cops on california are sick of people street racing. They are trying to crack down on this stuff really hard. Rumor has that your SUPPOSED to go to jail, car is impounded for 30 days, and its some crazy ticket, two points on the record, only one can be cleared by traffic school. Ya, California is pissed at the whole street racing scene!
