Default Speaker Swap For 2dr 98 Civic Si

I have recently purchased a new set of 6x9’s to replace my stock rear 6x9’s. When I went to replace them I was surprised to find no way to access the rear speakers (neither from the grill or the trunk ) The only way I can see accessing the rear speakers is to take the rear side panels and seat out. If somebody knows some other way id appreciate there knowledge!

well.. i havent heard of a 98 si... unless you swapped and call it an si for fun.

second, i am assuming it is a coupe.. since thats teh only 6th gen si... and stock size is not 6x9. tho i've heard you can fit 6x9s with a little trimming.

You answered your own question

Seats, side panels and rear deck have to come out. Just unplug 'em, run a nice amped component set up front, sub in back and call it a day.

That's exactly right. you have to take the seats and side panel out. biggest pain in the *** and not worth it.

Get a nice set of front components and skip the rear fill.

Hahaha. It's not really a pain in the ***. I took me maybe 45 minutes to get the seats and side panels out the first time I did it. And yes 98 Civics have 6x9 speakers in the back. That is the stock setup. I'm in the process of putting some in my car right now. One problem you might have is with the trunk springs. When you close the trunk they move a little toward the speakers and might press against them. I had this problem with some Infinity's. You can either leave it that way and hope for the best or take out the springs and bend them and get it to not contact the speaker anymore. Also for guy who said there was no 98 Si, there is a 98 Canadian model Si. It is the same as the US model EX. So it could be possible he has an 98 Si.

haha. CDM Si = USDM EX, CDM SiR = USDM Si

i don't even have rear speakers in my hatch. if you have nice amplified components and a sub, you won't miss them. however, if you have rear seat passengers a lot or aren't planning on a big stereo setup, you might as well pop those speakers in
