Default speaker sound cuts out after going over bumps...

my first post, don't think anyone has this weird problem and searched if anyone has this problem, so my 00 sir has an aftermarket deck, pretty new, new harness so i didn't hack up my old one, wired it properly and it was working fine when i bought the car 2 1/2 yrs ago until now so when i go over bumps my speakers cut out and comes back on when i go over more bumps, and when i open my passenger door sound comes back on then i close the door then it cuts out again or it will come back on sometimes when i close the door again...so what wires need to be looked at? i've checked the stereo wiring and stereo so i don't think that's it so where can the loose connection be?

Im betting my money that it has aftermarket speakers and they were installed improperly. Check the wiring on the speakers and check back with us.

It has factory door speakers and rears, I'm literly driving right now and as I was driving I opeen my door and music is back on then I close it no sound agan. There are 2 other plugs that go into the deck from the previous owner that I don't know what they r for and some other big wire possibly for an amp but I don't have anything else except for the deck and 3 factory speakers my passenger door speaker went so I took it out, if any of this info helps

Thats really odd. I was having the same problem and my passenger speaker would only work when the door was open, but I slammed the door super hard and it stop doing it.

When your radio cuts out, have you tried hitting it to see if its maybe the unit thats going out? If thats not it try kicking the speaker and see if it fixes it (with the grill on of course). That way you can pin point the problem and get back to us.

Hmmm the deck is on but no sound, maybe it could be the deck because I do have another deck that turns on but if u hook it up to any speaker there's no sound so ill try swapping decks

You said there was extra stereo wires going to the back or somewhere that might have been for speakers or amps....try disconnecting those make sure they are not the ones causing that problem....

Yeah those wires could be grounding onto something else and causing a short also.

I hate it when people half *** jobs like this.

yeah they are just sitting there loose inside the back of the deck and they were never connected but i did put them into the back of the deck to see if it made a difference but it didn't and another weird thing is when i open the door the sound comes on THEN i shake the door then it goes off again, close it then open it slowly and sound comes on. would it make a difference if i had all 4 speakers connected since i only have 1 driver side, 2 rears and no passenger side or should i switch over the driver side over to the passenger side....

lol... I think your passenger side cable is shorting itself out on the metal on the door. Wrap it in electrical tape and thank Arthas for solving your radio problem.

No. You just have to remove the speaker grill by prying on it with a flat head.

Im not exactly sure how it shorts out all the other speakers but it just does. I know when I had that problem it would also short out all speakers.

There is only one cable there, and its 2 cables in one; a positive and a negative. When you remove the grill youll know exactly what im talking about. Just wrap it with tape.

no problem bro!!! Knowledge is free and the only way to learn is to ask.

ok i know what you're talking about i removed the old speaker already and it's connected to nothing, but i think if i remember correctly it's 4 wires 2 together connected to a plastic connector that goes to the factory speaker, i'm gonna go check now....

I see you've fixed your problem.

It could also be the magnet of the speaker touching metal, which causes the sound to cut off, then when you hit a bump, the speaker moves and it's back to normal. Just thought i'd add that in.

ya there was no speaker in there in the first place but i guess the wires were leaning towards or outwards touching the door panel or something and bouncing all over the place but since i taped it up it's stiff and standing straight up out of the way lol

That would have to be a really large magnet because OEM speaker magnets are probably a good 4" away from the door.

I have some 2 way aftermarket speakers and they still have a lot of clearance left.
