Spark plug Questions
I haven't changed the spark plugs on my car since I bought her three and a half years ago. Whats the drawback with doing that, and what's the benefit of changing them. Because I was thinking about changing them but I was wondering whats the worst that could happen as this would be my first time changing the plugs. Meaning if I don't gap properly what could happen, and would that cause any serious damage? I don't want to pay some shop to do a $50 dollar "tune-up" or basically just changing the plugs.
If I do change, what kind of plugs and how much does that spark plug gapper run? So I'm a little lazy but I'm new at this and any help would be appreciated. |
Re: Spark plug Questions (RustyDX)
man, you're starving your car, i'd replace 'em as soon as possilbe! get ngk's. . . they already come pre-gapped.

Re: Spark plug Questions (allmtrSI)
just got OE NGK's, buy a $.50 gapper tool, check the gap and throw em in. Reset the ecu afterwards too, at least I like to.
The worst thing that could happen is the gap is a little off and you could be losing some ponies...something I'd doubt you would even notice after not changin them in 3 1/2 years. Plugs in a stock car should be good for 60,000 miles. You're in good shape. Might be down a little on mileage...but not much. MIght as well change cap and rotor too...takes 5 minutes to do this and you'll notice a difference. Will cost you around 60 bucks for everything https://honda-tech.com/forums/images/smilies/emthup.gif |
